# Research from supplied material: scoring guide

Answer a focused research question from documents you supply, trace each finding to a passage, show conflicts and unknowns, and write a concise answer within the evidence.

## How to use it

1. Run the template on your own material, or take an answer you already have.
2. For each criterion below, read the answer against the two lines and tick one: meets or does not meet. Quote what you saw.
3. A criterion marked "checked by you" is yours to mark. An AI cannot meet it for you.
4. Count the ticks for meets, out of 6. Fix the first criterion that is not met and run the guide again.

## The guide

### 1. Each document row has a topic and a limit

A plain rule you can check by eye.

- Meets: Each supplied document has a named topic and a meaningful limit.
- Does not meet: A supplied document is omitted or has an empty topic or limit.
- Your mark: [ ] Meets [ ] Does not meet
- What you saw:

### 2. Every evidence passage is in the supplied material

A plain rule you can check by eye.

- Meets: Each evidence passage appears word for word in the supplied material.
- Does not meet: A passage is paraphrased, invented or taken from outside the packet.
- Your mark: [ ] Meets [ ] Does not meet
- What you saw:

### 3. The assessment names unknowns

A plain rule you can check by eye.

- Meets: The assessment separates supported, conflicting and unknown points.
- Does not meet: It guesses an unknown or silently resolves a source conflict.
- Your mark: [ ] Meets [ ] Does not meet
- What you saw:

### 4. The answer includes an unknowns section

A plain rule you can check by eye.

- Meets: The answer includes a section on what remains unknown.
- Does not meet: It omits the unknowns section or treats a missing measure as proven.
- Your mark: [ ] Meets [ ] Does not meet
- What you saw:

### 5. Each material finding traces to the evidence table

Checked by a second AI prompt.

- Meets: Each material finding traces to a passage or a shown calculation from the packet.
- Does not meet: A material claim lacks evidence, or a conflict disappears.
- Your mark: [ ] Meets [ ] Does not meet
- What you saw:

### 6. You inspect key passages before sharing

Checked by you.

- Meets: You check the key passages and packet completeness before sharing.
- Does not meet: You share the answer without checking a material passage or missing source.
- Your mark: [ ] Meets [ ] Does not meet
- What you saw:
