# Write a weekly project status report: scoring guide

Turn your rough notes on this week's project work into a short status report that keeps what is done, what is under way, what is blocked and what you need from the reader in separate places, using only what your notes say.

## How to use it

1. Run the template on your own material, or take an answer you already have.
2. For each criterion below, read the answer against the two lines and tick one: meets or does not meet. Quote what you saw.
3. A criterion marked "checked by you" is yours to mark. An AI cannot meet it for you.
4. Count the ticks for meets, out of 8. Fix the first criterion that is not met and run the guide again.

## The guide

### 1. Every update is quoted word for word from your notes

A plain rule you can check by eye.

- Meets: Every update in the table is found word for word in your notes.
- Does not meet: An update has been reworded, merged with another, or is not in the notes.
- Your mark: [ ] Meets [ ] Does not meet
- What you saw:

### 2. Each status is one of the six allowed words

A plain rule you can check by eye.

- Meets: Every row has exactly one of the six allowed words in the Status column.
- Does not meet: A row has another word, or the Status cell is empty.
- Your mark: [ ] Meets [ ] Does not meet
- What you saw:

### 3. No number appears that your notes do not have

A plain rule you can check by eye.

- Meets: Every number in the report is also in your notes.
- Does not meet: The report has a number your notes do not have, such as an invented cost, count or date.
- Your mark: [ ] Meets [ ] Does not meet
- What you saw:

### 4. The reminder to check dates and figures is in the final text

A plain rule you can check by eye.

- Meets: The final text includes the line Check the dates and figures against your own records before you send it.
- Does not meet: The line is missing, or it has been replaced by a claim that the report is accurate.
- Your mark: [ ] Meets [ ] Does not meet
- What you saw:

### 5. Every update in the table is in the report

Checked by a second AI prompt.

- Meets: Every update in the table is in the report, under a heading that fits its status.
- Does not meet: An update is missing, or sits under the wrong heading.
- Your mark: [ ] Meets [ ] Does not meet
- What you saw:

### 6. Nothing is in the report that the notes do not say

Checked by a second AI prompt.

- Meets: No task, date, cost, person, reason or rating appears that the notes do not give.
- Does not meet: The report adds a detail, or gives an overall rating the notes do not use.
- Your mark: [ ] Meets [ ] Does not meet
- What you saw:

### 7. Every decision and every outside block is under What We Need From You

Checked by a second AI prompt.

- Meets: Every decision and every block that someone outside the project can clear is under What We Need From You.
- Does not meet: A decision or an outside block is missing from What We Need From You.
- Your mark: [ ] Meets [ ] Does not meet
- What you saw:

### 8. A person who knows the project reads it before it is sent

Checked by you.

- Meets: You, or a person who knows the project, read the report and checked each date, cost and name against your own records.
- Does not meet: The report is sent unread, or you did not check the dates and figures.
- Your mark: [ ] Meets [ ] Does not meet
- What you saw:

## Your result
