Start a template from questions

Answer six short questions and get a template draft: the inputs, the steps, the prompts and the checks. Open it in the Editor to change it and take it out as a prompt chain, a checklist, a Claude skill or an n8n file.

to see how it works, then change it.
1. The Job

Pick the kind of work, then say in one line what the template should do.

2. The Material

What you will give it each time. Up to 4. A long document is split into parts.

3. The Reader

Who reads the result. It sets the words and the detail. Optional.

4. The Result

What comes out, and how much of it.

What shape is it?
How long?
5. What Must Be Right

Each one becomes a check on the result. A rule runs where one can; the rest are questions for a second look or for you.

Anything only you can judge?
6. How It Is Put Together

The shape of the steps. Leave it to the tool, or pick one of the six.

Your Draft

Your draft appears here as you answer.

  • Say in one line what the template should do.
  • Name at least one thing you will give it.

How Your Answers Become a Template

  1. 1. The jobSets which of the six jobs the template sits under and who every prompt tells the AI to be. Your one line becomes the task in each prompt.
  2. 2. The materialBecomes the inputs, each marked needed or optional. A long document is split into parts, each part is handled the same way, and the parts are put back together.
  3. 3. The readerAdds one line to the answering steps, and a check on whether the reader would follow every sentence.
  4. 4. The resultSets the shape the last step hands back. A length adds a word-count rule, and named table columns add a rule that none is left empty.
  5. 5. What must be rightEach item becomes a check: a plain rule where one can run, a question for a second look, or a check only you can make.
  6. 6. How it is put togetherOne of the six shapes. Leave it to the tool and it picks from your answers and says why, or choose one yourself.

Good to know

The draft is a start, not a finished template. Open it in the Editor and change any step, prompt or check.
No AI runs here. The draft is put together by rules from your answers, so the same answers always give the same draft.
Each step prompt is held against the seven marks of a good prompt, and the draft must pass the same checks as every template on the site.

Check a prompt you wrote or read about the six shapes.
